Personal and Community Archives are unique, rare and unpublished materials relating to the Northern Territory.
Personal and Community Archives
Library & Archives NT's Personal and Community Archives consist of records and archives created by individuals as well as a range of organisations, community groups, businesses and professional associations, the arts, music and cultural industries, trade union groups, political parties, sporting clubs and churches.
Personal records can include:
• diaries and manuscripts
• letters and personal papers
• photographs, slides and images
• scrapbooks and ephemera
• posters and maps
Community and organisation records can include:
• minutes of meetings
• correspondence
• policy files
• journals
• legal documents
• plans and posters
• photographs, slides and images
Created by people in their daily lives, personal and organisational records provide a valuable record of the Territorian experience and significant events, and reflect the Northern Territory community's social, cultural, economic, religious and political life.
Location of LANT Personal and Community Archives collections
LANT collections are housed at the Northern Territory Archive Centres (NTAC) in Darwin and Library & Archives NT Alice Springs.

Our newer Personal and Community Archives collection (2021+) is searched through our catalogue. Community Archives collected earlier are searched on Archives Navigator until the records are transferred to the catalogue.
