Tiwi Heroes: World War Two Encounters has been extended until Sunday 29 May, 2022
Library & Archives NT is proud to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin with our exhibition Tiwi Heroes: World War Two Encounters.
Tiwi Heroes tells the lesser known aspects of World War Two in the Top End, focusing on the significant contribution of the Tiwi people to Australia’s defence.
Drawing on historical collections held on the Tiwi Islands and from major institutions including the Australian War Memorial, Point Cook RAAF Museum and the State Library of Victoria, this exhibition conveys the heroic feats of Tiwi people and details the extensive support they afforded Australian and Allied forces in Australia’s darkest hour.
Tiwi Heroes is a free exhibition on display at the Northern Territory Library (inside Parliament House) during opening hours.
Stay tuned on our website and social media pages for upcoming events and curator floor talks supporting the exhibition.
