Description

Join us for the launch of A Judicious Use of the Wheel: The Bicycle in the Northern Territory 1890s–1950s by Steven Farram.

Discover the fascinating history of cycling in the Northern Territory, from the overlanders who cycled through the Territory in pursuit of fame as the first or fastest, to the clubs, businesses and communities that helped cycling flourish over the decades.

While several histories of cycling in Australia have been published, this book is the first to explore the story in such detail for a single jurisdiction.

Featuring more than 80 images, many published for the first time, A Judicious Use of the Wheel offers a richly illustrated glimpse into the Territory’s cycling past.

Excitingly, the publication of this book was made possible by Library & Archives NT’s Northern Territory History Grants program.
