Description
Queer Territory is an exhibition of original works by our outgoing 2018 Creative in Resident Cj Fraser-Bell. The exhibition features two zines and a number of artworks to conclude their time at the Northern Territory Library.
ZINES:
- Queer Territory is a scrapbook style toe dip into Darwin’s History, assembled with some bedazzled gloves and a pair of rainbow spectacles. This satirical, queer re-imagining has been created with and inspired by contents in the Library's Northern Territory collection and includes newspaper clippings, photographs and other items, both real and completely made up.
- Fault Lines is a book of art and poetry. The poems were all composed by Cj on Frankie, the 1978 Olivetti Typewriter. Accompanying illustrations draw on aerial surveying photographs and topographical mapping found in the Library collections.
Exhibited works are original illustrations, paintings, poems and collages, some of which are included in miniature in the zine releases. A number of process pieces are also included in the exhibition as a continuation of the ‘no closed doors’ process Cj has undertaken while in Residence, having created work for three months in full view of the general public.
Exhibition on runs from Wednesday 6 March - Sunday 7 April, open during regular Library hours.
