Jimmy the Chimp
1959
Jimmy the Chimp lived fast and died young. He was only 16 when he passed away from a heart attack at the Perth Zoo. Jimmy lived and worked in show business on four continents, spending the last half of his life in Australian zoos. He came to the Top End in 1959 with his friend/handler/owner, John Calvert. What happened next reads like the plot from a Hollywood movie.
This is Jimmy’s story.
