Shifting Tides brings together woodblock prints of Darwin Harbour by Northern Territory artist Jacqueline F. Gribbin.

Referencing maritime charts from the Library & Archives NT collection, the exhibition considers the navigational challenges faced by vessels moving within the harbour, the ebbs and flows of tides and the ambience generated by the harbour’s changing weather.

Presenting a creative, historical and geographical based response to Darwin Harbour, the exhibition showcases the specialised technique of mokuhanga – a traditional application of inks, water and glue on hand carved woodblocks – in images that reflect the colour and light across the harbour and its ever changing moods.

Join us for the exhibition opening, Wednesday 15 June, 5.30pm.
