Description

Join us for the opening of our new temporary exhibition Tiwi Heroes: World War Two Encounters

Tiwi Heroes tells the lesser known stories of World War Two in the Top End, focusing on the significant contribution of Tiwi people to Australia’s defence.

Drawing on historical collections held on the Tiwi Islands and from major institutions including the Australian War Memorial, Point Cook RAAF Museum and the State Library of Victoria, this exhibition conveys the heroic feats of Tiwi people and details the extensive support they afforded Australian and Allied forces in Australia’s darkest hour.

Join us for the opening on Saturday 19 February from 1pm to 2pm. Official proceedings will begin at 1.15pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Tiwi Heroes: World War Two Encounters is a free exhibition on display at the Northern Territory Library (inside Parliament House) from Saturday 19 February to Sunday 15 May 2022.

Stay tuned on our website and social media pages for upcoming events and curator floor talks.
