CANCELLED: Archie Roach 'Tell Me Why' in conversation with Liz Trevaskis

"On behalf of Archie Roach we are very sorry to have to cancel coming to Darwin next week. Archie has been unwell over the past week and has been advised by his doctor to rest at home this coming week. We really hope we can reschedule coming to Darwin in the New Year."

Our thoughts are with Archie Roach and we wish him a speedy recovery.

Not many have lived as many lives as Archie Roach – stolen child, seeker, teenage alcoholic, lover, father, musical and lyrical genius, and leader – but it took him almost a lifetime to find out who he really was.

Roach was only a few years old when he was forcibly removed from his family. Brought up by a series of foster parents until his early teens, his world imploded when he received a letter that spoke of a life he had no memory of.

About Archie Roach:
Roach’s song ‘Took the Children Away’ won an International Human Rights Achievement Award and his first album Charcoal Lane featured in US Rolling Stone magazine’s Top 50 in 1992, going gold in Australia and winning two ARIA awards. Archie’s recording history – including 12 albums, soundtracks, film and theatrical scores – has been hugely successful, hitting ARIA charts and winning awards, year in, year out.

About Liz Trevaskis:
Aside from being the Drive radio presenter on ABC Darwin, Liz was also the Music Editor for Off the Leash magazine in Darwin (2014-2019). She has a been a judge for MusicNT Song of the Year competition (2015-2018), as well as a judge for the National Indigenous Music Awards (2016-2016). Over the last 12 months, Liz has been a contributor and curator for Atmos: Listening Parties for story lovers  where she created a series of audio stories centred around music and journeys through the remote NT, celebrating Indigenous music from the remote nooks and crannies of the Northern Territory. 

This event is held at the Library inside Parliament House, 4 Bennett St, Darwin. Seating available from 5pm for a 5:30pm start.
