NTL welcomes Cj Fraser-Bell as the 2018 Creative in Residence
As part of the 2018 Creative in Residence program we will be soon be welcoming emerging multi-disciplined artist Cj Fraser-Bell to the Library.
Now in its second year, the Creative in Residence program was created to provide an exciting new opportunity for local artists to work closely with the Northern Territory Government’s cultural institutions, to creatively interpret the collections and gain inspiration to produce new art works to add to the collections.
Taking up residence in the Library from Tuesday 2 October, Cj Fraser-Bell will be delving into the collection, with a particular focus on the Northern Territory’s arts archive and anything to do with LGBTQIA history and pop culture in the Territory.
During her time at the Library Cj is looking forward to writing, drawing, building, interviewing people and imagining the possibilities.
“I'll be making an installation work, creating some zines, and in the new year exploring a performance work inside the Library” said Cj Fraser-Bell.
As part of her work Cj welcomes people to come and have a chat and see how the installation progresses over time. Plus you can join her for zine making workshops and other events at the Library.
Patrick Gregory, Director of Northern Territory Library warmly welcomes the Creative in Residence program at the Library.
“The opportunity to have an artist come in and explore our collections, to see them through an artistic lens and to share their discoveries with the community is incredibly energising.
“The team at the Library are really looking forward to working with Cj and to see what she creates over time” said Mr Gregory.
Part of the NT Arts Grant Program, the Creative in Residence supports three NT artists to take up a creative residency at one of the Department of Tourism and Culture’s venues: the Northern Territory Library and the Northern Territory Archives Service in Darwin, and the Araluen Cultural Precinct in Alice Springs.
Events run at the Library as part of the Creative in Residence program will be available on our 'What's On' page.
