DIFF comes to the Library

Northern Territory Library is proud to be part of this year’s Darwin International Film Festival (DIFF) presenting David Noake’s 1987 film How the West was Lost. 

DIFF has consciously worked to ‘make the festival something that rings true for our community and extended community of nearest neighbours’ says Chair of Darwin Film Society, Jeff Coulter. With 80% of the program consisting of films from the Australasian region the program includes 12 NT premieres and three Australian premieres films.  

Combining film screenings with Q & A sessions, live performances and late night revelry the three themes of the programming include: New Territory referring to the NT film industry; Neighbour Asia focussing on new release films from Southeast Asia and; Festival Faves featuring new films on the international scene. 

The Library will also be the host venue for the NT Screen Summit 2018 on Sunday 16 September. Summit sessions include NT Screen Culture - a panel discussion with award winning filmmakers reflecting on Territorian screen culture and Exploring the NT film archive + screening for people curious about the Library’s film collection and the treasures within. 

How the West was Lost screens at 5:30pm on Wednesday 19 September and will be followed by a Q & A with Jan Richardson. 

NT Screen Summit 2018 takes place at the CDU Waterfront venue on Saturday 15 and at the Northern Territory Library on Sunday 16 September from 1:00 – 5:00pm.
